Elaine Russell, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on her 85th birthday on Wednesday, August 21, 2024
surrounded by her family. She was born on August 21, 1939, in Eldorado, WI, to the late John and Cora
(Schenk) Stahmann. She graduated from Rosendale High School.
She united in marriage to Leo Russell on May 5, 1980 in Sheboygan. Elaine was a member of Bethlehem
Lutheran Church in Sheboygan for many years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge where she was
honored to receive the Star Recorder Award.
Elaine was a very kind and caring person who always thought of others, especially her family. She did not
have a mean bone in her body. Everyone who met her fell in love with her. She loved her family more
than anything after all she was one who “started it all”. For the past six months, her children, Debbie,
Larry and Lyle and granddaughters, Tammy, Amy and Tina spent multiple hours with her in the nursing
home, making her laugh with jokes and telling stories, right up to the end.
She is survived by her husband Leo Russell; children Debbie (Raymond) Brickner, Larry (Cindy) Matson
and Lyle Matson (Barb); three stepsons Steve Russell, Gerald Russell and David Russell; six
grandchildren, Tammy (Scott) Dexter, Amy Berg (Robert), Tina (Dennis) Videtic, Michael Berg (Nadia),
Melissa (Ryan) Fischer, Tyler (Lacey) Maxey; eleven great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Isabella, Elijah, Dylan,
Elaina, Alexa, Haley, Emirah, Landon, William, Lucas and Everly; three great-great-grandchildren, Kyrin,
Eloise and Attlas; two sisters-in-law Kaye Stahmann and Janice Randell; her beloved pet Molly Ann. She
is further survived by her nieces and nephew; and relatives and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Cora Stahmann; two daughters, Lynda Berg and
Denise Maxey; infant son Danny Matson; sons-in-law, James “Jimbo” Berg and Russell “Rusty” Maxey;
one grandson Raymond Brickner IV; one brother Raymond Stahmann; and her first husband Marlyn
(Red) Matson.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral and
Cremation Care Center, 1201 N. 8th Street, Sheboygan, WI 53081, with Pastor Gerald Mansholt
officiating. Friends may call on Saturday, at the funeral home, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Meadow View Nursing Home for their
care and compassion during Elaine’s stay there. Especially, to Nurse Jen and Elaine’s special “little girl”
Ivy her CNA. Also, they extend special a thank you to the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice.
