ST. LOUIS, MO (WHBL) – Nolan Arenado provided the heroics as the St. Louis Cardinals walked-off the Milwaukee Brewers 10-6 in ten innings at Busch Stadium on Wednesday night.
Arenado crushed a grand slam in the bottom of the tenth to beat Milwaukee after Matt Carpenter and Tommy Pham drew back-to-back bases loaded walks in the ninth to send the game to extras.
Trevor Megill gave up the homer while Devin Williams blew the save. Milwaukee had its six-game winning streak snapped but remains first in the NL Central.
Offensively for the Crew, Joey Ortiz drove in three runs and Jackson Chourio went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and a run.
Luken Baker also homered for the Cardinals, while Ryan Helsley earned his fifth win in relief. St. Louis snapped a two-game losing streak.
The rubber match of the three-game series takes place Thursday afternoon with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 12:40.
