ST. LOUIS, MO (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers are on a six-game winning streak following a 3-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Tuesday night.
Sal Frelick, Joey Ortiz, and William Contreras all had RBI hits during the game to give Milwaukee a late 3-0 lead.
Matt Carpenter hit a two-run home run to bring St. Louis within one, but Devin Williams shut the door to earn his fifth save. The Cardinals loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, but Williams struck out the next two batters to end the game.
Frankie Montas improved to 6-8 after striking out three and allowing just one hit over seven scoreless innings.
The Brewers have an 11-and-a-half game lead in the NL Central.
Erick Fedde was charged with his eighth loss after surrendering two runs on six hits in five-and-two-thirds innings. The Cards have dropped seven of eight.
The Brewers and Cardinals will play game-two of their three-game series Wednesday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 6:10.
