The National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for East Central Sheboygan County just after 3:30 this afternoon following the passage of a heavy thunderstorm, with more on the way.
The warning was to be in effect until 5:30PM. The NWS reported rainfall of between 1.5 and 2.5 inches at the time, and flooding was either underway or expected to begin shortly.
Areas pinpointed in the advisory included Sheboygan, Sheboygan Falls, Oostburg and Kohler.
Impacts include flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses, as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Officials warned the public to avoid driving through standing water, as most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
