Some 36% of Sheboygan County’s eligible voters turned out for Tuesday’s primary election. Those voters largely mirrored the sentiments of the rest of Wisconsin concerning contested races, but differed on referendum sentiments.
Eric Hovde won Sheboygan County’s Republican vote to oppose Incumbent Democrat Senator Tammy Baldwin in November, affirming the statewide results.
Daniel Feyen defeated Timothy Ramthun for the 20th Senatorial District nomination 952-884 in Sheboygan County, affirming Feyen’s 64-36 percent district-wide win. Michael Rapp will be on the Democrat ticket in November.
Paul Tittl won over Sheboygan County Republicans, defeating Dave Wage 270-98 in the 25th Assembly District, a larger margin than the district-wide 60-40 percent win. Tittl goes on to face Democrat Stephen Welch in the General Election.
In the race for the 27th Assembly District, Lindy Rae Brill was the apparent winner both district-wide and in Sheboygan County where she garnered 3,670 votes to Brian Hilbelink’s 3,244. Her district-wide margin was 51-49 percent. Kay Ladson will be the Democrat’s entry in November.
As for referendum questions one and two, Sheboygan County went opposite the rest of Wisconsin. The proposals were approved in Sheboygan County, each by 52-48 percent margins, but voters statewide gave thumbs-down by 57-43 and 58-42 percent margins respectively.
