Mary Lou Beeck, age 88, passed away at her home surrounded by family on June 24, 2024. She
was born on June 5, 1936 in Sheboygan Falls to the late Jacob and Inez Van Engen. On October
29, 1955, Mary Lou married the love of her life, Eugene Beeck, at St Luke’s Church in Sheboygan
Falls. Together, they raised three daughters: Cindy, Cheri and Deione.
Mary Lou will be fondly remembered for many things. She loved cracking jokes, gambling
(especially the One Arm Bandits, Sheepshead, Poker), watching the Packers and Badgers, and
just having good times with good friends. She loved traveling with friends and family, visiting
Yellowstone National Park, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee, and of course vacationing in her own
state “Up North.” She enjoyed cross-stitching, long talks with her sisters, and just spending time
with her family. The world could use more people like Mary Lou. She will be greatly missed,
and is surely smiling down on her family and friends from heaven.
Mary Lou is survived by her children Cindy (Burnie) Lorenz, Cheri (Jack) Verhelst, and Deione
(David) Platz, her grandchildren Tammy (Bob) Gonzalez, Tara (James) Rammer, Justin (Stacy)
Curtiss, Stefanie Richter, Haleigh (Trevor) Wehrmann, Marshall (Emily) Stroessner, and Dylan
(Sarah) Stroessner, and her great-grandchildren Emily, Blake, Jayda, Uriah, Andrew, Summer,
Macy, Macklin, Sage, Braelyn, Renna, Lainee, Ashton, Elianna, Bentley, and Leland. She is
further survived by her sisters Joan Zimmerman, Kathy (Richard) Kettner, and Judy Frank, her
brother Richard (Janette) Van Engen, and her sister-in-law Beverly Van Engen.
In addition to her parents, Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband Eugene, her sister
Virginia (Fred) Boetcher, her brothers Gerry Van Engen and Daniel Van Engen, and her brothers-
in-law Connie Zimmerman and Wayne Frank.
