Karen Berg, 84, of Sheboygan, Wis., died June 22, 2024, at the Sharon Richardson
Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls, Wis., with her family in attendance.
Karen was born Karen Kay Laura Fischer on October 9, 1939, in the Town of Two
Rivers, Wis., on the family farm, to Omer and Evelyn (Wordell) Fischer. On December 30,
1957, she married Paul Edward Zimmermann, in Manitowoc, Wis. They were married for 25
years, and raised three children together. On April 14, 1985, she married Theodore Frederick
Berg. They were married for 27 years, and raised four children together.
Karen is survived by her son Dan (Kim Christensen) Zimmermann of Minneapolis,
Minn., her daughter Cherry Hood of Duluth, Georgia, her son Tony (Tara) Berg of Green Bay,
Wis., her stepson Darrell (Becky) Berg of New Ulm, Minn., her stepson Joel (Michelle) Berg of
Sheboygan, Wis., her stepdaughter Bethel (Paul) Berg of Waunakee, Wis., 9 grandchildren, 5
great-grandchildren, her brother Robert (Trudy) Fischer of Appleton, and her sister Nancy
Kerznar of Fitchburg, Wis. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted, her son Peter John
Zimmermann, her two daughters Ruth Ellen and Debby Ann Zimmermann, her sister Jo Ann
Kubsch, and her parents.
Karen very much wanted to go to the same hospice that her husband Ted had passed
through. The family deeply thanks Sharon Richardson for making a room available to her on
very short notice, and for the excellent care they provided her. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests that bequeaths be made to the Sharon Richardson Community Hospice in the name of
Karen Berg.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church in Howard’s Grove, Wis., with Adam Bode officiating. Visitation from 10am to
11am. Following the service a luncheon will be served at the church. Zimmer Westview Funeral
Home is assisting the family with cremation and memorial preparations.
