SAN DIEGO, CA (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers avoided a four-game sweep against the Padres following a 6-2 win in the finale from San Diego on Sunday afternoon.
Blake Perkins drove in a pair of runs as part of a five-run second inning. Tobias Myers earned the win after giving up one run on five hits over five innings with three strikeouts and no walks. Myers improved to 5-2. He allowed one or no earned runs for the fourth time in his June starts — all Brewers wins — and won his fifth straight decision dating to May 21.
Besides Perkins’ two-run single, Brice Turang hit an RBI triple and Sal Frelick and Tyler Black had run-scoring singles.
Milwaukee took just one-of-four in the series, but still leads the NL Central at 45-33.
The Padres had their four-game winning streak snapped.
The Brewers will head back to American Family Field for a six-game homestand beginning Monday night when the Texas Rangers will arrive for the first of a three-game series.
