James Nicholaus, known as Jim or Jimmy, Beck, age 56, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on June 14,
2024, at Sharon Richardson Community Hospice, following health struggles and a debilitating battle with
multiple sclerosis.
Jim was born on November 30, 1967, a son of the late James Bauer and Ericka (Bauer) Beck. He
attended schools in Kohler, Elkhart Lake, and Plymouth, graduating from Plymouth High School in 1986.
Following high school, Jim enlisted into the Army infantry. He later graduated with the 82 nd Airborne
Division, 507 th Parachute Division in April 1987.
Jim started his career at ELENCO Carbide Tool Corporation, where he began as their IT Consultant,
successfully upgrading their systems and was later named President. He always had a passion for
computers, and later followed his dream by starting a business venture at BSC, Business Systems
Consultants, and earned his certification as a Microsoft Certified Network Engineer.
In 2001, Jim formed a partnership that he named Patheon Consulting. Over the course of his career, Jim
helped hundreds of businesses with their technologies and consulted in six different counties for over a
total of thirty years.
Jim enjoyed sitting outside in the yard with a book in his hand, fishing, scuba diving, working on projects
around his house, driving his BMWs, and especially liked the company of his friends and pets; most
recently his cat, Simon.
Survivors include: His sister, Elisabeth (Sean) Lawlor of Maryland; Nephews, Timothy Nicholaus and
Patrick James, both of MD; Aunt, Elisabeth (Ray) Blount of FL; Cousin, Aliesha Holbert of MN; As well as
many friends that were like Jim’s family.
Following his wishes, cremation has taken place. Jim will be laid to rest peacefully at Woodlawn
Cemetery in Plymouth.
