Diane Christine Basler, age 86, passed away at her home in Cleveland on June 15,
2024. She was born to the late Christian and Josephine (Franzen) Eirich in
Sheboygan on January 14,1938. Following her high school graduation in 1956,
she met the love of her life, Wilfred Basler. On October 26, 1957, they were
united in marriage at St. Dominic Church in Sheboygan. Together, they raised five
children: Michael, William, Joseph, Christine and Kathryn.
Diane was known for her kind and generous personality. She was always giving
back to her community, working as an LPN in home nursing, developmentally
disabled in group homes and apartment programs, and at Walmart in the shoe
department prior to her well-deserved retirement in June 2003. She loved
reading, needlework, and making Jigsaw puzzles. She loved spending time with
her large family, and of course her friends and neighbors. She was a beautiful
person with a big heart, and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of
knowing her.
Diane is survived by her husband of almost 67 years Wilfred, her children Michael
(Jill), William (Linda), and Joseph (Irene) Basler, Christine Null, and Kathryn Stone,
her grandchildren Trevor, Tara, Joshua, Luke, Melissa, Scott, Arthur, James,
Samantha, Cassandra, Angela, Brandon, Nicholas, Alonzoeh, Shaquille, Malcolm,
Alexandrea and Dianalisa. She is further survived by many great-grandchildren,
her brother Dennis (Marilyn) Eirich and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her infant son, brother-in-
law Peter Basler, and sisters-in-law Shirley, Necmiye “Mary”, and Annette Basler.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Ballhorn Chapels
1201 N. 8 th St. in Sheboygan at 1:00 p.m., with Reverend Melinda Feller
officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until
the time of service at the funeral home.
