Everything else went right after something went wrong with a boat on Lake Winnebago over the weekend. The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office got the call for help at 3:49 p.m. Saturday when a boat began taking on water while carrying eight persons offshore of Calumet County. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office joined the response which also drew help from citizen boaters who were in the area.
The six adults and two children who were on board and all wearing life vests were rescued, while their boat was towed to the Brothertown Harbor by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Calumet County Dive Team. Nobody was injured, and investigators are looking into what caused the boat to take on water.
