Jadzia “Yasha” Holmes, beloved wife, mother, friend, and wine enthusiast, peacefully passed away on June 6, 2024, at her home after a courageous battle with a long illness. She was 61 years old. Yasha was born on June 26, 1962, in Kro-sno, Poland, to Helena (Kunach) and Walt Soltysik.
In 1963, her family immigrated to Chicago, where she would begin her remarkable journey.
Yasha was a proud graduate of Lake Park Community High School in Roselle, Class of 1980, and later pursued further education at Triton College. On November 22, 1989, she married the love of her
life, Edgar “Eddie” Holmes, in Roselle, Illinois. Together, they embarked on a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. In pursuit of her passions, Yasha ventured into various career paths, starting in Real Estate and later transitioning into Advertising. Her dedication and talent led her to hold notable positions such as Advertising Director at the Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter, Classified Manager at the Green Bay Press Gazette, and Advertising Director at the Indianapolis Star. Yet, she found her true joy back in the realm of Real Estate, culminating her career at Village Realty and Development in Kohler, Wisconsin.
Yasha’s zest for life extended beyond her professional endeavors. She found immense pleasure in remodeling and decorating, infusing beauty into every space she touched. Her fondness for shopping and indulging in chardonnay reflected her vibrant spirit and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Yasha is survived by her devoted husband, Edgar Holmes, and their cherished sons, Steven, Ryan, and Scott Holmes. She is also mourned by her mother, Helena Soltysik-Lukaszewski; brother, Marion Soltysik; sister, Anne Cowden; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Yasha is preceded in death by her father, Walt Soltysik; father-in-law, Jack Holmes; stepfather, Walter Lukaszewski; mother-in-law, Maureen Forbell; and stepfather-in-law, Michael Forbell.
In honor of Yasha’s vibrant life, a celebration will be held on June 22, 2024, from 12 PM until 3 PM at The Osthelder, 513 Broadway Street in Sheboygan Falls. Together, let us remember and celebrate the profound impact she had on all who knew her.
