Annette D. Basler, 86, of Sheboygan, passed away at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center on Monday, June 10, 2024. Annette was born to the late Wilfred and Dorothy (Anhalt) Basler in Sheboygan on February 4, 1938. She attended St. Dominics grade school and went on to St. Mary’s Academy High School graduating in 1956. She was a schoolteacher and eventually earned her Master’s Degree from UW-Milwaukee in 1987. Annette became the Head Librarian at Howards Grove High School for 10 years, retiring in 2003. She enjoyed walking, reading, needlework, quilting and the company of her cats.
Annette was a member of Sisters of St. Francis from 1956 to 1972 and was a devoted community volunteer. She was an active member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church where she sang in the choir and volunteered in the food pantry. For many years she helped at Meals on Wheels and most dear to her heart was providing comfort and care by holding and rocking babies in the NICU at the hospital.
Annette is survived by her siblings, Wilfred “Bill” (Diane) Basler, David (Lynn) Basler and Rose Ann Basler; sister-in-law, Jean Basler and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Peter; two sisters-in-law, Shirley and Necmiye “Mary”; and niece and goddaughter, Annette.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1439 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, with Fr. Phillip Reifenberg officiating. Visitation will take place prior to Mass from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. A private burial will take place later at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be donated to Annette Basler Memorial Scholarship Fund or Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi.
Annette’s family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the skilled and kind staff of Rocky Knoll Health Care Center, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and Home Instead of Sheboygan.
