21st Century Dads can step back in time to the past two centuries to enjoy a ride from each era this Fathers Day weekend in Sheboygan County. Those rides come courtesy of the Wade House in Greenbush and the Aviation Heritage Center at the Sheboygan County Airport.
The first stop is Saturday, and again on Sunday when the Wade House Historic Site opens from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. with a horse-drawn wagon shuttling people from their cars to the 1850s Stagecoach inn on both days. For families looking for something more, on Saturday only, a limited number of 30-minute rides for up to six people on a replica Concord stagecoach through the idyllic Kettle Moraine will be available for a fee. The Wade House is strongly recommending pre-registration for those at wadehouse.wisconsinhistory.org
And on Sunday, the Aviation Heritage Center at the Sheboygan County Airport will host the EAA Chapter 766’s annual Wings and Wheels event until 4 p.m.. Admission is free to see the airport terminal and museum. You can start early with a pancake breakfast from 7-11, with proceeds supporting scholarships and aviation-related programs. There’ll also be food trucks on-site beginning at 10 a.m. to feed crowds viewing antique and modern aircraft, classic cars, boats and tractors, model trains, and an exhibit from Rockets for Schools. And weather permitting, dad & family can purchase airplane rides over the local area, topping off a Fathers Day weekend for the centuries
