A 61-year-old Illinois man is facing possible time in federal prison after being indicted on child exploitation charges. U.S. Attorney Gregory Haanstad announced the charges against Terrence Fabino of Grayslake, Illinois on Thursday. The indictment alleges that Fabino knowingly attempted to convince a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct last November. He’s also charged with trying to transfer obscene material to a minor under the age of 16 in October last year.
The charges resulted from an investigation by the Department of Justice as part of the nationwide “Project Safe Childhood” after the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office coordinated with the Lake County, Illinois Sheriff’s Office to develop the case. It’s wasn’t revealed where in Manitowoc County the approaches by Fabino were directed. If he’s found guilty, Fabino faces mandatory imprisonment of 15, and up to 30 years on the enticement charge, and up to 10 years for transferring obscene material. A trial date was not announced.
