MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers benefited from some late offense to edge the Chicago Cubs 6-4 in their series finale from American Family Field on Thursday afternoon.
Brice Turang gave the Brew Crew a one-run lead in the seventh inning with an RBI single. Christopher Morel tied the game for Chicago with a solo homer in the top of the eighth, but Gary Sanchez blasted a two-run shot in the bottom half to restore Milwaukee’s lead.
Elvis Peguero slammed the door shut in the ninth to seal the win.
The Brewers took three-of-four in the series and sit first in the NL Central at 33-23.
Seiya Suzuki and Cody Bellinger also homered for the Cubs. Chicago is now third in the division at 28-29, just behind St. Louis.
The Brewers will welcome the Chicago White Sox to American Family Field for a three-game weekend series beginning Friday night.
