Fire departments from five surrounding areas plus support crews were called out when fire broke out at a rural Oostburg home on Wednesday evening. The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office says that Emergency Dispatch got the 911 call around 7:45 p.m., sending responders to the home on Highway “A” about 2-1/2 miles west of the Village where a passerby had reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the building.
The first arriving Deputies determined that nobody was in the home, and fire departments from Oostburg, Cedar Grove, Waldo, Adell and the City of Sheboygan Falls put out the blaze. The Sheriff reports that there was significant damage to the kitchen, but the home was not destroyed. However, Oostburg First Responders weren’t able to revive a dog found in the home. The Sheboygan County Fire Investigation Team continues looking into the cause of the fire.
