Marion R. (Mandel) Rieboldt, age 96, Sheboygan, WI passed away peacefully at home with her
children by her side on May 17, 2024. She was born in Sheboygan on September 22, 1927, the
daughter of the late Richard and Eleonora (Brandt) Mandel. Marion graduated from Trinity
Lutheran School, class of 1941, and Sheboygan North High School, class of 1945. She worked
at Sears, Roebuck & Co. until her marriage to Ned W. Rieboldt on June 7, 1958, at Trinity
Lutheran Church, Sheboygan, WI.
In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling in the Lutheran Ladies League, fishing, golfing, sewing,
and coaching the children in recreation teams; T-ball, girls’ softball, with her daughter Heidi’s 9 th
grade softball team winning the city championship. Upon Ned’s retirement, together they
enjoyed traveling, attending sporting events, cross country skiing, walks, bike rides, and visiting
children and grandchildren.
As a longtime member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, she participated in Circle Bible Study
and taught Sunday School. After the closing of St. Andrew, Marion once again became a
member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she enjoyed worshiping with her “pew sisters”, along
with many new and renewed friendships.
Sharing her faith and love with her family were Marion’s priorities in life. Her children and
grandchildren remember her as a loving and caring mother and Oma, who always placed the
needs of others before her own. Her humor and competitive spirit will be missed.
Marion is survived by sons William (Lisa) Rieboldt, Grafton, WI, Benjamin (Margaret) Rieboldt,
Buffalo Grove, IL, daughter Heidi (Roderick) Wiese, Northwood, IA, grandchildren Ryan
Rieboldt, Daniel Rieboldt, Joseph (Kamila) Rieboldt, Matthew (Brianna) Rieboldt, Shelby
Shields, sister-in-law Kay Rieboldt, Walnut Creek, CA, and cousins, nieces, and nephews. She
was proceeded in death by her parents, beloved husband Ned, daughter Ruthann Shields,
sister Elaine (Rodney) Buss, brother Richard (Marilyn) Mandel Jr., and in-laws Annette (Henry)
Marcus and Benton Rieboldt.
A funeral service will be conducted at noon on Saturday June 1, 2024, at Ballhorn Funeral
Chapel, 1201 N 8 th St, Sheboygan, WI. Pastor John Berg will officiate. Burial will follow at
Lutheran Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held at Ballhorn from 10 a.m. to the
time of the service.
Marion’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community
Hospice for their compassionate care and friendship, and for the love, fellowship, and support of
the pastoral team and members of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Memorials may be made in Marion’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church and Sharon S.
Richardson Community Hospice.
