While the four seasons sometimes get muddled around here, there is one dependable season when the weather warms up – road construction.
The Sheboygan DPW advised of three projects in particular on Monday, some that had already begun. First up, lane closures on Geele Avenue between North Taylor Drive and North 29th Street. Beginning tomorrow (May 22) the eastbound traffic lane only will be closed to traffic while the pavement is repaired. Since weather can impact schedules, no start date was given for westbound traffic.
Also on the north side, Lincoln Avenue construction between Barrett and North 6th Streets will involve repairing storm sewers and sidewalks, and replacing curbs, gutters and asphalt pavement. Residents will need to use side streets for access, and the intersection of Lincoln Avenue, Barrett Street and Broughton Drive will remain closed until early June, although it will be late next month, weather permitting, before repairs are complete.
Work on South 11th Street between Indiana and Union Avenues, and Swift Avenue between South 8th and 14th Streets has been underway since last month, with the eventual completion of an asphalt overlay, new curbs, gutters and sidewalks, and storm and sanitary sewer repairs scheduled to last until late August.
