MIAMI, FL (WHBL) – The Marlins rallied late to come away with a walk-off, 3-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in 10 innings in Miami on Monday night to take the first game of a three-game series.
Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Otto Lopez drove in Nick Gordon to tie the game off Brewers pitcher Trevor Megill. With the game knotted at two in the bottom of the 10th, pitcher Mitch White gave up a Josh Bell walk-off, RBI single to send Miami home winners.
Andruw Monasterio slugged a solo homer for Milwaukee, which remains first in the NL Central at 27-20.
Game two of the series is set for Tuesday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 5:05.
Meanwhile, the Brewers are hoping one of their starters avoided a major injury. Joe Ross left his start against the Marlins after the first inning due to a lower back strain. The 30-year-old is 2-4 this season with a 4.50 ERA. Ross missed all of last season after recovering from Tommy John surgery.
