Janice Schmeiser

Janice M. Schmeiser, 80, of Sheboygan, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

Born February 7, 1944 in Sheboygan, Janice was a daughter of the late Frederick and Adeline Siewart Stocks. She attended Holy Name School and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1962. On November 23, 1963, she was united in marriage to William J. Gatto at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. She later married Richard G. Schmeiser on May 12, 1979. They were married for 37 years before Dick preceded her in death on February 9, 2017.

Janice worked for Community Home Health Care in Sheboygan for many years. She also worked at City Hall and St. Nicholas Hospital. She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her children, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Jessica Gatto and Bill Gatto; her grandchildren, Hannah and Nicholas; great grandchildren, Dior Jean Elizabeth, La’voh Jose’ James, Dezerray and Nikolai; two sisters, Marjorie Stocks and Mary (Michael) Hameister; sister and brother-in-law, Vonnie (Harold) Gorr; nieces and nephews, Jeff, Kristin, Greg, Kelly, Samantha, Andrea, Amy and Nicole; and her close family friends, Cheryl and Rollie Schoenenberger.

Besides her parents and her husband, Dick, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia (Rick) Colombo; and her brother, Frederick Stocks.

Private family services will take place with inurnment in Greendale Cemetery.
