Barbra Jean Schulze, 91, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin passed away on May 11, 2024. Barbra was born February 21, 1933 to Donald G. Osier, Sr. and Anna Viola (Eslin). She lived with August and Hattie Puls from age 10 until she married. After Barbra graduated from North High School in 1951, she went on to study teaching at Sheboygan County Teachers College. After graduating, she became a teacher at St. Paul’s Lutheran School for many years. She also worked for First Interstate Bank, United Way and Caan’s Floral. She was also a bookkeeper for several small businesses in Sheboygan.
Barbra married Donald Carl Schulze on August 6, 1955 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sheboygan and went on to have two children, David Robert Schulze and Susan Elizabeth Schulze. Barbra and Don raised their family and many, many shelties in Black River in The Town of Wilson.
Barb was a talented sewer, knitter and quilter. She made prayer and baby quilts for The Lutheran World Relief Organization. She was also a member of Christ Lutheran Church and sang alto in the choir. She taught Sunday and Vacation Bible School and was part of the Church Quilting Group. Barb also served as a Church Treasurer for many years.
Barbra always got a kick out of the fact that her name was spelled like Barbra Streisands’, with only two A’s. She was a voracious reader, loved crossword puzzles, soap operas, butter pecan ice cream and a good Brandy Old Fashioned. She loved sports on TV and followed all Packers, Brewers, Bucks and Badgers games. She was one of the lucky few to have Green Bay Packers Season Tickets. Barb’s father was a professional baker and taught her the secret of pie crust! She knew how to bake a pie! She loved trying new cuisines and she loved to travel. Barb explored much of the Continental United states and took trips to Canada, Hawaii and Australia.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald Carl Schulze; her parents; foster parents; mother and father-in-law, Ada and Ulrich Schulze; her three brothers, Don, Bob and David Osier and her foster sisters and their husbands- Mona and Bill Bayens and Fay and Jim Bayens.
She is survived by her son, David (Annette) of Noosa Head, QLD, Australia; daughter, Liz (Mitch) of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; sisters, Renee Mueller (George) and Sherry; brothers-in-law, Roger (Karen) Schulze and Robert (Mary) Schulze and many nieces and nephews.
Barb enjoyed a full and fulfilling life and was lucky enough to stay in her home in the woods into her 90’s with the help of many neighbors who loved and cared for her. We are deeply grateful to her “village”.
A funeral service will be held for Barbra at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church, 3816 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
