MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The St. Louis Cardinals avoided a four-game sweep at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers following a 4-3 win in the finale from American Family Field on Sunday afternoon.
St. Louis clawed back from a three-run deficit, and Michael Siani’s RBI double in the seventh inning proved to be the game-winning run. Paul Goldschmidt slugged a solo homer and finished with two RBI, while Miles Mikolas earned the win. Ryan Helsley notched his 12th save of the season as The Cards remain last in the NL Central at 16-24.
Rhys Hoskins, Joey Ortiz and Gary Sanchez all drove in runs for Milwaukee in the opening frame.
The Brew Crew still lead the division at 24-16 and will continue their homestand against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Game one of the three-game series takes place Monday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 6:05.
