One person had to be flighted from the scene of an accident that blocked northbound lanes of I-43 this morning. The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office says they received multiple 911 calls at around 5:21 a.m. reporting a two-vehicle accident near mile marker 166 in the Town of Holland. The crash, which remains under investigation, was between a semi operated by a 44-year-old Racine man, and another vehicle driven by a 51-year-old man and his 59-year-old male passenger, both from Milwaukee.
Responders say that the vehicle’s driver sustained major injuries, and needed to be transported for treatment by Flight for Life. His passenger, however, didn’t report any injuries. The semi driver had only minor injuries and was taken for treatment by ambulance.
I-43 northbound traffic was diverted onto Sauk Trail Road at Cedar Grove, and returned to the interstate at County Highway “V” while crews worked to remove the semi and clear the accident scene.
