ST. LOUIS, MO (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers earned a series sweep over the Cardinals with a 2-0 shutout victory in the finale from St. Louis on Sunday afternoon.
Owen Miller broke the scoreless deadlock with a seventh-inning single that scored Blake Perkins and Brice Turang.
Bryan Hudson earned the win in relief after striking out four batters over two-and-a-third innings. Joel Payamps earned his third save of the season as Milwaukee leads the NL Central at 14-6.
Paul Goldschmidt had one of St. Louis’ six hits. Sonny Gray got the loss despite striking out 12 batters over six-plus innings as the Cards sit last in the division at 9-13.
The Brewers will now head to Pittsburgh for a four-game series against the Pirates. Game one is Monday night with pregame coverage on WHBL beginning at 5:05pm.
