Leadership at the Sheboygan County Board has changed following the induction of new Supervisors on Tuesday. The Chairmanship held for the past four years by Vern Koch came to a conclusion after Koch served two consecutive two-year terms, the maximum allowed under County ordinance.
According to County Administrator Alayne Krause, Chairman Koch provided practical and fiscally responsible leadership during his tenure, adding that “With his guidance, the tax rate decreased every year and debt levels were reduced by 17% from 2020 to 2024.” She said that one of the most defining aspects of Koch’s Chairmanship was the COVID-19 pandemic. Krause said that “Chairman Koch was steadfast during the unprecedented challenges we faced. In spite of the pandemic, he continued to advance other major initiatives and moved the county forward. For his part, Koch said that he was “…honored to have served as Chairman the past four years, and proud of all the work accomplished…”.
The County Board on Tuesday handed the new Chairmanship to Supervisor Keith Abler, while Curt Brauer was elected as Vice-Chairman for the 2024-26 Board term. Tuesday’s meeting also saw the election of Supervisors Ed Procek, Bill Goehring, and Kathleen Donovan to the Executive Committee.
