The City of Sheboygan concluded the 2023-24 session of the Common Council last night, and opens the 2024-25 session tonight.
Last night the City said “thank you” to three alders who appeared at their final meeting: District-2 Alder Roberta Filicky-Peneski, District-4 Alder Betty Ackley, and former District-3 Alder Amanda Salazar who stepped down earlier this year and was replaced by Daniel Peterson.
Among tonight’s first orders of business will be the swearing in of the new Common Council, including both incumbent members, as well as those that were elected to their positions just two weeks ago. Those are John Belanger in District-2 and Robert La Fave in District 4.
Following installation of the new Council, members will elect a President and Vice-President, representatives to the City Plan and Capital Improvements Commissions, and then elect the Chair of the Committee of the Whole. And having completed that process and hearing from the new officers, it will be down to business for the first session of Sheboygan’s 2024-25 Common Council. Tonight’s meeting begins at 6 p.m.
