A recount has validated the original vote tally for Sheboygan District-10 Alderperson. The vote in favor of incumbent Joseph Heidemann over challenger Marcia Reinthaler was affirmed at 411-407 with no changes to report.
The recount was prompted by the margin of victory falling within limits set by the Wisconsin Elections Commission. A race with fewer than 4,000 votes cast that ends in a margin of 40 votes or less qualifies for a recount, and the State of Wisconsin covers any costs when that less-than-4,000 vote total falls within a margin of 10 votes.
Sheboygan City Clerk Meredith DeBruin released the results following the recount that took place on Thursday morning. There have been no statements released by either party in the contest as of Friday morning.
