Harold A. Hintz, 80, formerly of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024, surrounded by his family in Sheboygan where he had been residing.
Born July 15, 1943 in Cleveland, WI, Harold was a son of the late Reuben and Emma Schmidt Hintz. He attended Red Arrow School in Cleveland, Central, and graduated from Sheboygan South High School. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Sunyon Chu.
Harold worked for Tecumseh in New Holstein for 43 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. John-St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. He loved working on old cars, trucks and tractors, fishing on Lake Michigan and preparing firewood. He liked to keep active in the Village by helping his friends and neighbors with driveways and gardens.
He is survived by his son, Jerry (Jenni Hupf Steindl) Hintz, Sheboygan; a granddaughter, Ashley (Kyle) Chmela; his sisters, Carol (David) Wood, Sheboygan, and Linda Brendel, Cleveland; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, Rueben and Emma, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Sunyon; his son, Andrew Hintz; his brothers, Carl, Eugene and Kenneth; his uncle, Marvin Schmidt; his aunt. Louise Schmidt; other aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends and his special friend, Eugene Dassler.
Funeral services for Harold will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue. Family and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place in St. Johannes Cemetery in Cleveland.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
