18 newly-approved projects at Lakeshore Technical College will get a strong start following the receipt of nearly $2 million in grants from the Wisconsin Technical College System. The $1.9 million grant was announced on Tuesday by Lakeshore President Dr. Paul Carlsen, who said that Lakeshore’s “…ongoing ability to secure substantial amounts of grant funding allows us to offer more opportunities for students pursuing in-demand careers and skills here in our community.”
Among the program-related projects benefiting from the grant are a fast-track police academy, a Foundations of Teacher Education associate degree, and competency-based educational design for an online business management program.
Additional grant-supported initiatives include resources for low-income students, students enrolled in programs leading to non-traditional occupations, reducing textbook fees, and adults enrolled in basic education and high school credential programs.
