James E. Schaller, 73, of Sheboygan Falls passed away at his home on Thursday, March 21, 2024, after a 5-year battle with dementia.
Jim was born June 21, 1950, in Sheboygan, the son of Roman Sr. and Loretta (Mauer) Schaller. He attended Sheboygan Falls School District with the class of 1968. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Vietnam from 1968-1969 for which he received a Purple Heart.
On May 20, 1972, he was united in marriage with Deb Christenson.
Jim was employed by Willman Industries for 40 + years, retiring in 2014.
An outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his grandsons, Brandon and Brady as they were growing up. An avid racing enthusiast, he drag raced for many years, and later got involved with stock car racing with his son-in-law Randy, and more recently his grandson Brady. He took great pride in restoring his ’69 Camaro! Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years Debbie, their daughter Sheila (Randy) Harshbarger of Fond du Lac and grandsons Brandon and Brady Harshbarger. He is further survived by his brothers: Mike (Tammy) Schaller, Steve Schaller, Tim Schaller, and David (Lorena) Schaller; sisters: Julie Schmidt, Diane (David) Knaus, Beverly (Wayne) Henke, Sharon (Dale) Peterson, Sue Carpenter, Debbie Lawrence, Pat (Gordon) Rammer and Jackie (Keith) Oppeneer; sisters-in-law Rosemary Schaller and Sue Titel; brother-in-law Dale Christenson. He is further survived by Mary Jo Knoebel, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his fur baby “Murphy”.
He is preceded in death by his parents Roman Sr. and Loretta, parents-in-law Gene and Betty Christenson, brothers Jeff and Roman Schaller Jr.; brothers-in-law Wally Schmidt, Curt Lawrence, and Rudy Titel; sister-in-law Bonnie Christenson; nephews Gordon Rammer III, Dusty Knaus and Brian Schmidt and niece Suzanne Carpenter.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Wenig Funeral Home, 711 Broadway in Sheboygan Falls. Chaplain Kevin Spaeth will officiate. Jim will be laid to rest at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00AM-1:00PM.
