Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Deputies were told by a driver that he comes to Whistling Straits at Haven from time to time because “he likes to look at the lake”. That explanation got him nowhere with deputies, who responded to a call from Kohler Security around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday who also said the man was going nowhere after getting stuck in a sand trap at the golf course.
Hazards at Whistling Straits seem equally effective against both golf scores and repair bills, as the car in which the driver was found while smoking a cigarette, had sustained heavy front-end damage and was missing a tire.
The man, who was not yet named, is facing his 4th OWI, which if convicted in Wisconsin, is a felony that can cost up to $10,000 in fines, along with as much as six years in prison.
