The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has announced its list of highway construction projects scheduled for 2024 in the Northeast Region, which includes Sheboygan County. While the list is tentative and subject to change depending on funding levels, only one project was on the County list for now. That involves the resurfacing of State Highway 42 from the Pigeon River to the North Village Limits in Howards Grove.
The DOT indicates that besides the milling and overlay of the road, curb ramp improvements will be included in order to meet ADA standards. Construction is scheduled to begin on July 8th, with the .852 mile length to be completed by September 30th. Full closures are not planned, but rather flagging operations will control traffic, and during the curb ramp improvements pedestrians will be provided with alternate routes.
