A round of strong thunderstorms did their worst far to the south of the Sheboygan area on Monday evening, leaving mostly beneficial rains in our county.
High winds and hail were noted in south-central Wisconsin, especially in areas between Elkhorn and Lake Geneva with some damage reported there. However only lightning and generous rains were experienced here. Rainfall reached around an inch-and-a-half near Random Lake and Cedar Grove according to radar estimates, but by that indicator most of the area received around an inch.
That’s good news in light of the high fire danger reported by the DNR in all of southeastern Wisconsin, but that relief could be short-lived as dry soils rapidly absorb the moisture, leaving dry ground cover exposed once again, providing potential fuel in the coming weeks.
