Katherine M. “Kathie” Lensen, 76, of Cascade, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by her family.
Born March 31, 1947, in Chicago, Kathie was a daughter of the late Edward and Elaine Sosnosky Schmeda. She attended Manitowoc area schools and graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1965. She continued her education at Silver Lake College and Lakeshore Technical College. On November 20, 1965, she was united in marriage to Randall W. Lensen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc. They were married for 57 years before Randy preceded her in death on May 7, 2023.
Kathie was a registered nurse and served as the Director of Quality/Risk Services at St. Nicholas Hospital for many years. She then started her own healthcare consulting company until her retirement. Kathie and Randy showed and bred Samoyeds and they belonged to the Samoyed Club of America, the Sheboygan Kennel Club, and the Greater Milwaukee Samoyed Fanciers. Kathie could often be found in her garden or in the kitchen cooking. She also enjoyed reading out by her pond. She will always be remembered as the caretaker in the family, caring for Randy and Wendy during their illnesses. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Timothy (Sherri) Lensen, Oostburg; her grandson, Nicholas (Jenna) Lensen, Sheboygan; her brothers and sisters, Ed “Tuffy” (Joyce) Schmeda, Manitowoc, Joann Schmeda, Plymouth, William (Marlene) Schmeda, Green Bay and David (Mary) Schmeda, Green Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Elaine; her husband, Randy; and her daughter, Wendy Lensen.
A Celebration of Life gathering will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1132 Superior Avenue, Sheboygan.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
