Though existing records aren’t as extensive here as in other major Wisconsin locations regularly logged by the National Weather Service, there’s no doubt that the drop in temperatures from Tuesday into Wednesday are the largest within 24 hours ever recorded in Sheboygan County.
The high temperature on Tuesday reached 70 degrees at the Sheboygan County Airport shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday, a new record for February 27th as well as for the month overall. By 8 a.m. on Wednesday the 28th, the thermometer plunged to 14 degrees, a change of 56 degrees in 18 hours.
Many other Wisconsin locations shared similar experiences. Madison’s Tuesday high of 70 degrees was followed by a low of 11 for a record 59-degree drop, while Milwaukee’s 58-degree plunge resulted from a High of 74 and a low of 16.
Looking ahead, no records appear in danger of being broken. After a chilly 10-degree low tonight, highs should rebound to an above-normal 40 degrees on Thursday, with a warming trend continuing through Sunday.
