Ellsworth F. Jaeger, 91, of Howards Grove, passed away Tuesday evening, February 20, 2024, at Harvest Home where he had been residing.
Born November 7, 1932, on the family farm in Cleveland, WI, Ellsworth was a son of the late William and Mabel Zastrow Jaeger. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Central High School in 1950. On July 23, 1955, he was united in marriage to Darlene F. Lorenz at St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Ellsworth drove truck for Lake to Lake Dairy for many years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Sheboygan and the VFW Post 9156. He also volunteered at local food pantries and took care of the lawn maintenance at Christ Lutheran Church. He enjoyed traveling with the family and on group trips to Hawaii and Europe. He loved to keep busy with woodworking and finding solutions to everyday projects. He kept active by playing dartball, bowling, dancing, gardening, grilling out, and listening to polka music. Family was very important to Ellsworth. He taught his children how to drive and instilled in them strong work values and a commitment to family. He was loyal, a great listener, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his children, Lori (William) Heck, Wauwatosa, Daryl (Kelly) Jaeger, Sheboygan, Linda (Scott) Kuether, Wauwatosa, Kathie (Paul) Richards, Wauwatosa, and Todd (Wendy) Jaeger, De Pere; his son-in-law, Daniel Stoelb; his grandchildren, Regan (Kelly) Disotell, Tristan (Ashley) Stoelb and Brennan (Hannah) Stoelb, Melissa, Colleen, Jennifer and Rachael Heck, Amanda (fiancé Matt Heimerl), Alex (Amanda) Jaeger, Austin (fiancée Sarah Kempen) Jaeger, Jordan and Spencer Kuether, Matthew and Bethany Richards, and Ethan Jaeger; 11 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, Darlene, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Stoelb; a grandson, Michael Heck; and his sisters and brothers, Ruth (Elmer) Barts, Roland (Edna) Jaeger, Viola (Herbert) Hoppe, Florence (Clemens) Lorenz, Harold (Lucille) Jaeger, Audrey (Hugo) Janing, George Jaeger, Jeanette (Arthur Kober & Arthur Bord) Kober, and Delton Jaeger; his brother-in-law, Roland (Jeannette) Lorenz; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Lorenz.
Funeral services for Ellsworth will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 917 Mead Avenue. The Rev. James Schulz will officiate. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name for the St. Mark Food Pantry.
