Paul Michael Van Lanen, 56, of Sheboygan, formerly of Kaukauna, unexpectedly passed away
on February 16 th 2024, while on vacation in Punta Cana.
Paul was born on June 15 th , 1967 in Algoma, Wisconsin, and was adopted by the late Eugene
and Mary Jean Van Lanen, where he was then raised with his siblings in Kaukauna, Wisconsin.
Paul went on to graduate high school at Xavier High School. He then went on to attend college
at UW Oshkosh, where he carried out a degree in teaching. He spent most of his days teaching
health and physical education at Sheboygan North High School. He also coached Legion and
High School baseball for a number of years, while perfecting his game of pool and golf in his
downtime.
Paul retired in June of 2023 after 31 years of teaching. While retired, Paul had time to pursue
trying to work on his back swing, hit that hole in one, and continue to school most in pool. He
had more time than ever to cast a line, and listen to the Brewer, Packer, or Badgers game while
getting the grill fired up.
In 2005, Paul met his true love Sue, and they later married in 2018. Paul was a loving father to
Erika, Kaylee, and Nate, and was even more of a loving Papa. He was a great cook and loved to
feed his family, especially big pots of gumbo or a juicy steak. He also enjoyed Friday night date
nights, and relaxing by a bon fire, but would prefer to be out on a lake.
Paul was predeceased by parents Eugene and Mary Jean, his brother Dan and his faithful
companion, Brody. He is survived by his wife Sue; children, Erika Theobald (Alex Malwitz),
Kaylee Crawford (Matt Crawford) and Nathanial Trickett (Alex Vreeke); grandchildren, Kashton,
Kayden, Ella, Henry, Adaline, Levi, Kaylee, Rylee and baby Ramona on the way; sisters, Donna
Diedrich (Randy) and Mary Van Dyke (Greg), his furry friend Bacon and numerous nephews,
nieces, extended family and friends.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
