Lakeshore Technical College President Dr. Paul Carlsen has been selected as one of six finalists for the CEO of the Year Award by the American Association of Community Colleges. The AACC is an advocacy organization representing more than 1,000 two-year, associate degree-granting institutions and their nearly 12 million students nationwide.
Considerations for the award include accomplishments and recognition in various areas including leadership, results-driven initiatives, effective advocacy at both local and state levels, participation in national dialogues on trends and issues impacting community colleges, and representation on local, state and national boards advancing the work of two-year colleges.
LTC Board of Trustees Chair, John Wyatt, called Carlsen “…a leader among his peers and a game-changer for our college and community,” noting LTC’s national recognition under his leadership by such organizations including Forbes, aspen Institute, and the Bellwether Consortium.
For his part, Carlsen credited the nomination as “…less a reflection of me as an individual and more a reflection of the college at large.”
The award-winner will be announced during the AACC’s annual convention on April 8th.
