The City of Plymouth will vote on a plan to update a dam on the Mullet River at a cost of $2,550,000 when the Common Council meets tonight at 7 p.m. City officials are under a DNR deadline to either remove, remodel or replace the structure which now fails to meed standards.
After studying options, recommendations are to replace the Crest Gate, the most expensive of three options, but a step that would make controlling water levels and removing debris easier while reducing maintenance expenses in the future. The plan was also the one with the most favorable waterfall aesthetics.
The resolution being considered tonight would begin the process of accepting grants and covering remaining expenses in the 2025 budget. The State of Wisconsin has already allocated 1-million-dollars for the project and would cover up to another half-million dollars of the final bill. The remainder of the bill would have to be paid by the City of Plymouth.
