A suspect with a violent past was taken into custody without injury on Saturday night, but officials took no chances. A residence in the usually quiet Village of Campbellsport just west of the Sheboygan County line was the scene as Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies and Campbellsport Police were called by the West Bend Police Department to conduct an arrest. Their target was a suspect in an armed robbery involving a firearm earlier in the day in West Bend. That person had recently been released from federal prison after serving a lengthy sentence. Due to his violent past and use of a weapon in Saturday’s incident the Sheriff’s armored vehicle was also deployed.
While West Bend Police worked on getting a warrant and a SWAT tactical strategy was planned, the suspect left the residence in a vehicle but was stopped in a high-risk maneuver. He was taken into custody without incident and is now in jail awaiting new charges from the Washington County District Attorney’s Office.
