In what seems something out of the “Groundhog Day” movie – albeit a few days late – a recurrent blanket of fog is once again plaguing the lakeshore area with advisories for its hazards posted by the National Weather Service.
The Dense Fog Advisory covering Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties was issued shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday to remain in effect until 6 a.m. on Wednesday. It was extended until 10 a.m. early this Wednesday morning and now includes the southeast third of Wisconsin.
NWS forecasters expect visibilities to be limited to a quarter mile or less during the advisory, posing a threat of hazardous driving conditions. Besides visibility issues, the DOT indicates slippery road conditions throughout the southeast half. As a result, officials advise that drivers slow down and leave plenty of distance between you and vehicles ahead.
