Richard Carl Mandel, Jr.,age 89, passed away on February 2, 2024. Dick was born March 9,
1934, son of the late Richard C and Eleonora Brandt Mandel. He was baptized and confirmed
at Trinity Lutheran Church. He attended Trinity Grade School and graduated from North High
School in 1952.
Dick played the drums with Wuerl Band and Kohler Company Band for many years. He served
on the original Band Shell Committee that was constructed in Fountain Park. Dick also gave
private drum lessons. He enjoyed fishing and watching Green Bay Packer Football and
Milwaukee Brewer & Bucks Games.
On December 4, 1954, Dick was united in marriage to Marilyn L. Scheib at Zion Reformed
Church as St. John’s E & R Church was under new construction at the time. Dick sang with the
Senior Choir and St. John’s Christian Aires Quartet for many years. He was also a member of
the Men’s Brotherhood and served on the Church Council and various committees in the past.
Dick was a past member of United Commercial Travelers for 25 years.
Dick was employed at Hayssen Manufacturing Company, Sheboygan, and PCMC Green Bay,
for 29 years in the Service, Parts and International Sales Departments, retiring in 1996. After
retirement, he served as a Consultant for PCMC for several years. Dick had also been a
member of Hayssen Silver Society. Previous to his employment at Hayssen, he was at the
Kohler Co. Engine & Electric Plant for 8 years. Dick enjoyed working at Black Wolf Run golf
course after retiring.
Richard is survived by his four children, Michael (Nancy) Mandel of Plymouth, WI, Todd (Patti)
Mandel of Barron, WI, Terri (James) Lee of Cave Creek, Arizona, and Jeffrey Mandel of
Marshfield, WI; eight grandchildren, Ryan Mandel, Kristi (Darren) Lentz, Daina (Dustin) Drath,
Jennifer and Matthew Lee, Aaron, Jarred, and Noah Mandel; two step-grandchildren, Tosten and
Natalie Schmitt; six great-grandchildren Nicholas and Nadia Mandel, Kinley, Jayda, & Knox
Drath, and Cash Mandel; his sister, Marion Rieboldt, Sheboygan; sisters-in-law Sandra (William)
Lind & Pamela Scheib and his brother-in-law, Pete Vercouteren, and other family members &
friends.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his loving wife Marilyn, his sister
Elaine (Rodney) Buss, his brothers-in-law Ned Rieboldt and James Scheib, and sister-in-law
Barb Vercouteren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm on February 10, 2024 at St. John’s United Church of
Christ, 1248 Lincoln Ave., Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The Rev. Judine Duerwaechter will officiate.
Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery immediately following service. Friends may call on
family at the church from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
