It does have that uniquely “Wisconsin” sound to it…a story about a guy who’s arrested for drunk driving, as is his designated driver for his ride home from the jail. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office relates the story that began just before 11 Wednesday night as a deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding on a County road in the Town of Polk. The 29-year-old West Bend man driving the car showed signs of impairment and was arrested for his third OWI offense after his breathalyzer read a point-two-one blood alcohol level. He got a ride to the jail from the Sheriff while his girlfriend, a passenger, drove off in his car.
That girlfriend showed up at the Sheriff’s Office parking lot just after 2 on Thursday morning to post $850 bond and retrieve her boyfriend, telling a deputy that she came from the bar she’d gone to after the first traffic stop, where she raised her own alcohol level to that of impairment. She was arrested for her second OWI and also jailed.
