Fire did an estimated $40,000 damage to a Sheboygan apartment house on Saturday. The Sheboygan Fire Department got the 911 call just before 12:30 p.m. Saturday and arrived within 4 minutes to find heavy smoke coming from inside the home.
The first crews on the scene made a “quick-fire” attack on the bedroom fire from an outside window on the first floor, making a quick knockdown while other crews were responding. Once the fire was out a search of the first and second floor apartment confirmed everyone had made it out safely, and a cat found inside the building was reunited with its owners.
No firefighters were injured during the 2-1/2 hour operation, but one civilian was checked for smoke inhalation and released.
