Robert “Bob” Hand passed away Tuesday morning, January 9 th , 2024, at Pine Haven in Sheboygan Falls
where he has been residing since August.
Bob was born on January 15 th , 1932 at the family home in Town of Lyndon to William J. and Ida M. Hand.
Bob grew up on the family farm, attended Pleasant View School, Waldo High School, and graduated
from Plymouth High School in June 1949. Bob met his future wife, Margit E. Albertin while working at
Richardson Furniture Company in Sheboygan Falls. Bob and Margit were married on April 17 th , 1952 in
Indianapolis.
Bob joined the Wisconsin 32 nd Division National Guard in 1950, and transferred into the U.S. Army in
January 1954, serving with the 77 Th Special Forces Group Airbourne at Fort Bragg North Carolina until
January 1956. Following his military service, Bob and Margit returned to Wisconsin and bought a farm in
rural Waldo where they raised their family of seven children.
Bob was a longtime employee of Bordon Foods in Plymouth, joining the Borden’s 25 Year Club in 1978
and retiring in 1995. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating,
and vacationing in northern Wisconsin, especially at Flossie’s cottage and camping at Twin Bridges
Resort. Bob enjoyed hosting the annual Father’s Day Family picnic at their home with food and games
for all. Bob and Margit enjoyed Ballroom Dancing and would often head out to dancing and music
venues on Sunday afternoons. Bob was a Charter Member and President of the Greenbush Kettle
Moraine Trailblazer Snowmobile Club. Bob served as a director of the Plymouth Credit Union from 1984
thru 1990. In retirement, Bob served as a driver for Meals on Wheels delivering meals from 2005
through 2018. Bob enjoyed spending time caring for his home, yard, gardens, and building and repairing
items in his workshop. Bob was always ready with his expertise and helping hands for any projects his
family and friends might have.
Bob was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick’s Church in Adell, and later became a member at St. Pauls’
Church in Cascade, where he served on the Board of Stewardship from 1996 through 2012.
Bob is survived by 6 of his 7 children: Christine (Jim) Dotz, Joseph (Margaret) Hand, John (Jody) Hand,
Carolyn Daniels, Corinne Tracy, and James (Ann Marie) Hand. He is further survived by Daughter-in Law
Deb Hand and 15 grandchildren: Ben(Molly) Bollenbacher, Amy Federer, Wendy (Jeff) DeSandro,
Andrew(Jessica) Harper, Eric(Shanley) Harper, Meredith(Nicholas) Bertalon, Jeremy(Nicki) Hand,
Justin(Susan) Hand, Jason(Tiffany) Liermann, Kyle(Kristin) Reiss, Holly(Manish) Chhabra, Jacob Hand,
Zachary Hand, Megan Hand, and Luke Hand. Bob is further survived by 32 great grandchildren, and by
nieces, nephews, and other friends and relatives.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife Margit, his son Jeff Hand, his parents William and Ida Hand, his
in-laws Frederich and Clara Albertin, his sisters Ellen Fritts and Lois Hand, his brother-in-law Harvey and
wife Ruth Albertin, his brother-in-law Jack Fritts, grandson Patrick Bollenbacher, nephew Robert Fritts,
and niece Mary Lou Lau.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday January 20, 2024 at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Cascade. Visitation from
10:00am-12 noon, with a service to follow at 12 noon. Pastor Richard Bidinger will officiate and burial
will be in the Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Robert’s name.
