One arrest has been made by the Sheboygan Police Department in connection to a series of recent thefts of scrap material.
The SPD has been investigating those thefts from Sadoff Iron on North 21st Street on the City’s far north side. Thieves have been targeting high-value metals such as copper and red brass during multiple, different incidents. Police say that the amount of scrap metal stolen since the beginning of November is valued at several thousands of dollars.
The investigation has so far resulted in the arrest of a suspect in connection to one of the thefts, and felony charges have been referred to the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s Office.
The SPD says that they’ve begun working closely with local salvage yards in efforts to reduce the risk of theft, and have put thieves on notice that scrap theft is a serious crime, and carries equally serious penalties. The public is asked to call Sheboygan Countywide Crimestoppers at 1-877-CUF-THEM (1-877-283-8436) with any relevant information.
