Fire crews were busy in the Kiel area over the weekend. Firefighters were called out Saturday morning to a house fire on Cleveland Street to find smoke and fire coming from the front windows of the home. Crews had that fire out in just minutes while a neighbor, who heard the smoke alarms going off, helped the person living there out of the home.
There was also a fire at an apartment complex on Chicago Street last night – fire crews were called when residents hear smoke alarms going off. Two people had to be rescued from that fire. Six people were evaluated by paramedics, five were transported from the scene… the Red Cross is assisting the people left without a home.
