Joan M. Schueffner passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. She was 82 years old. Joan was born June 11, 1941 in Sheboygan, the daughter of Giles and Genevieve McClone Hefling. She graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1959, and went on to study at Sheboygan County Teachers College, where she graduated in 1961. She was formerly married to John “Jack” Gehr. On May 24, 1983, she was united in marriage with Marvin Schueffner. Most recently, Joan had worked at Art Imigs for 20 years doing tailoring work. Previously, she had worked as a personnel director at G.C. Murphy Co for 15 years, and later at Troy Cleaners for 10 years. Joan was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish, where she volunteered with multiple fundraising activities, and served on the funeral luncheon committee and as a eucharistic minister. An avid crafter, Joan enjoyed all sorts of arts including basket weaving, ceramics, jewelry making, knitting and quilting. She had enjoyed playing sheepshead, golfing, bowling, listening to Irish music, and above all, time spent with loved ones. The family matriarch, Joan led everyone with love, organization and clear direction. Joan is survived by her husband Marvin and her children: Jack (Sandra) Gehr of Sheboygan, Heide (Bruce) Doolittle of Sheboygan and Kurt Gehr (Rebecca Stroschein) of Sheboygan Falls; grandchildren Aaron Doolittle (Katie Mayer), Jared Doolittle (Dan Koerber), Karson Gehr, Clarke Moberg (Jess Lewis), Callie (Chris) Stanton and Owen Stroschein; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers Richard (Margaret) Hefling and Patrick Hefling; sister Suzanne (James) Mattek and brother-in-law Tom Wimmer. She is further survived by Marvin’s family that she loved dearly; children Steven (Kim), Mark (Chris), Scott (Kay) and Robert (Casey) Schueffner; grandchildren Amy Schueffner, Mark (Emily) Schueffner, Sarah (Brandon) Miota, Jordan (Boon) Phonesaythip, Allie (fiancé Malcolm Callis) Kober, Dualy Schueffner (Kaila Bricco), Danielle Schueffner, Danny (Amber) Cristel, and Jackie (Phil) Plagemann. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her infant son Victor Giles Gehr, parents Giles and Genevieve Hefling, parents-in-law Marvin and Anna Schueffner and Victor and Laura Gehr, sister Kaylene (James) Altmeyer and sisters-in-law Audrey Wimmer and Annette Hefling. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00PM on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls.
