Deryl F. Aschenbach, 82, of Sheboygan, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 6, 2023, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Born May 5, 1941, in Kiel, Deryl was a son of the late Ferdinand and Gladys Prahl Aschenbach. He attended Kiel and Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Central High School in 1960. On November 7, 1964, he was united in marriage to Donna Mae Zunker at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Sheboygan Falls. They were married for 54 years before Donna preceded him in death on February 5, 2019.
For many years Deryl owned and operated Stitch and Sew, selling and repairing sewing machines, first at Memorial Mall and later on 8th Street in Sheboygan. He eventually closed the store and “retired”, but loyal customers brought their machines to his home, where he continued to do repair work.
Deryl enjoyed golfing, playing sheepshead, and landscaping the yard. He could often be found in the garage, washing and waxing his Cadillac and truck. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and his Boston Terrier, Abby.
He is survived by his children, Kevin (Debbie) Aschenbach and Wendy (David) Prince; his grandchildren, Nicole (Tyler) Manning, Megan & Nolan Limberg, Ryan & Nicole Trossen and Ben & Chris Prince; his 2 sisters, Bonnie (Richard) Gibbs and Sherry Bender; his 2 brothers, Elwyn Aschenbach and Rodney (Faye) Aschenbach; his 3 sisters in law, Darlene (Jim) Gruenke, Shirley (Dan) Diels, and Kathy Aschenbach; and a brother-in-law, Dennis (Marcia) Zunker; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and special friends.
Besides his parents and his wife, Donna, he was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Aschenbach; and his nephews, Tyler Aschenbach and Ryan Gibbs.
Private family services will take place with entombment in the Chapel of Eternal Light of Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Embrace, St. Nicholas Hospital, and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their loving care and support.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Deryl’s arrangements.
